We were brought onto the DA approved project to develop and obtain CC approval for an art wall scheme to a prominent blank boundary facade of the development. AJA’s approach to the artwork for this residential development was based on the question “what does this wall want?” and guided by council’s positive reaction to local street art, our concept looked to give the blank wall the illusion of projecting balconies.

Applying the same principles of street art stenciling, we created a large stencil template that could be re-used across the facade, applying a variety of tonal shades to each balcony face to give depth to the 2D imagery while people in a variety of poses activate the wall.
